Epperson National Clay Competition

Open to all Artists Nationally working in Clay, Sculptors, Functional Artists, Potters and Hand Builders. This exhibition will showcase the best Contemporary Ceramic art being made in the United States. Open to artists 18 years and older living in the United States.

Our juror this year will be Scott A. Shields.

Scott is the associate director and chief curator at the Crocker Art Museum. He holds an MA and PhD in art history from the University of Kansas. He has twenty-five years of museum experience, including his employment since 2000 with the Crocker. During his tenure in Sacramento, he has curated more than seventy-five exhibitions. He has also authored numerous exhibition catalogs, including Artists at Conti- nent’s End: The Monterey Peninsula Art Colony, 1875–1907; Echoes of the Earth: Ceramics by Toshiko Takaezu; Edgar Payne: The Scenic Journey; A Touch of Blue: Landscapes by Gregory Kondos; Armin Hansen: The Artful Voyage; E. Charlton Fortune: The Colorful Spirit; Richard Diebenkorn: Beginnings, 1942–1955; Granville Redmond: The Eloquent Palette; and the forthcoming Wayne Thiebaud 100: Paintings, Prints, and Drawings.

AWARDS:

First Place: $1,500.

Second Place: $1,000.

Third Place: $500.
