Hand building with Liquid Porcelain

Description: Two-day workshiop. All skill levels are welcome. We will focus on experimental ways of building using thick porcelain slip. The workshop will include live process demonstrations and hands-on building exercises. Participants will learn about application thickness, different armature techniques, how to achieve a translucent surface, and a variety of application techniques.
Specifically, students will learn to build soft armatures and use them to support the porcelain slip to create sculptural and functional forms. We will explore dierent types of application methods including custom extruders. Surface texture options and color will be discussed as well as tissue transfers, ceramic stains, and underglaze nishes.
Each student will receive a bucket of prepared white porcelain slip to work with. Finished work will be once fired to cone 6. Firing is included.
Schedule: June 4, 10am-2pm and June 5, 10am-1pm.
